Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering New Perspectives on Political Economy for the publication of your work. To ensure a smooth submission process, please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Manuscript Preparation

  • Submissions should be in English or Czech and prepared in Microsoft Word format, alternatively in OpenDocument formats.
  • Use any consistent text and citation format in the first round of submission; there is no need to follow formatting rules initially.
  • Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing AI presently do not meet our authorship criteria. Notably, authorship entails accountability for the work, which cannot be effectively applied to LLMs. The use of an LLM should be fully documented in the Methods section (or, if one is not available, in an appropriate alternative section) of the publication.
  • There is no fee to publish an article in this journal. We do not charge any fees to authors.

2. Manuscript Structure

  • Include a title page with the title, author(s) names and affiliations, and contact information.
  • Provide an abstract (200-250 words) summarizing the concise and brief description of the research question and key points and highlights of your work.
  • Organize the manuscript with clear sections such as Introduction, Literature Review, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point serif font (Times New Roman); employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Follow APA citation style for in-text citations and the reference list.  APA citation style and Journal formatting will be required in the next stage after initial submission stage.

3. In-Text Citations

  • Use the APA citation style for in-text citations, providing the author's last name and the publication year. Example: (Smith, 2010), (Smith & Li, 2024), (Taylor et al., 2023), (Lundt, 2020; Li, 2024), (Smith & Li, 2024),
  • For direct quotations, include the page number: (Smith, 2023, p. 45).

4. Reference List

  • Compile a reference list at the end of the manuscript, following APA guidelines.
  • Include all sources cited in the text.
  • Authors must deposit their data to a suitable public data repository (open licences without SA, NC or ND clauses). When possible, data should be submitted to discipline-specific, community-recognized repositories as part of the manuscript submission process; otherwise, manuscripts will not be sent for review. If data were not deposited to a repository prior to manuscript submission, we provide a service to deposit them during the submission process through our article submission platform. We strongly advise including all files that facilitate the replication process, such as statistical software "do files," algorithms, and so on.

5. Figures and Tables

  • Ensure that all figures and tables are clear, labelled, and cited in the text.
  • Provide captions for each figure and table.

6. Preferred Format in the First Round

  • Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts using any consistent text and citation format in the initial round of submission.
  • Formatting rules are not mandatory at this stage.

7. Manuscript Submission

  • Submit manuscripts through our online submission system.
  • Ensure that the manuscript adheres to ethical standards and guidelines.

8. Review Process

  • Manuscripts will undergo a peer-review process. Authors will receive feedback for revisions if necessary.
  • We screen article submissions for plagiarism.

9. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright, and works are published under the CC Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 license.

Please consult the APA Publication Manual (7th edition) for detailed formatting and citation guidelines. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned for revision.

We appreciate your contribution to "New Perspectives on Political Economy."
